How We Played
“Lake-loving is not an idle affair for someone who took so long achieving it… our inland sea is the only coast I need.”
– Rosellen Brown
Chicagoans are known for their resilient and hardworking personalities, built from bitter winters. But CITY2000 revealed a relaxed side to Chicagoans, showing them swimming in Lake Michigan, making music on the streets, and playing chess at the parks. They played in neighborhood sports leagues, danced at concerts, and put on firework displays for the neighborhood kids. They roller skated, bird-watched, and played video games together. And like many others, Chicagoans found community through their need for playfulness once winter finally ended and warm weather emerged.
